Dominio Familia Langa 2003 Merlot Syrah blend has a sherry red color with rich violet hues. This Spanish Merlot Syrah blend is filled with an intense and complex aroma generous in well riped red fruits, violets with a background of forest, and balsamic aromas with soft smokey and cacao traces. In the mouth it is full-bodied, beefy and standing out in ripe tannins of great quality. Dominio Familia Langa 2003 has an extremely big finish with elegant notes and a perfect balance. The 50/50 merlot syrah grapes hand picked for this wine are of prime quality. After the picking process the stalks and seeds of the grapes are removed and they go to the pressing process to get the must of the grapes. They are then fermented at 28� C, remaining with the grape peels, in stainless steel vats for a maceration time of 10 days. The wine is removed from the original vat and moved to another where it ages for 15 days with its natural lees. Finally, the malotactic fermentation takes place in Oak wood casks. Afterwards, the organic wine reposes in Oak for 12 months before being bottled without any sort of stabilization. Due to this natural winemaking process and evolution, it is possible to find some sediment. Every single bottle of this organic wine is individually numbered. Only 73,000 produced for the world market. Drink by 2011.

Langa is a unique familly winery inside the area of D.O Calatayud. They have proved that Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot can deliver superior, unique wines second to none in the Calatayud D.O. And they've achieved this while adhering strictly to organic standards throughout the Langa vineyards. This small family owned winery in Arag�n, Spain employ both traditional and modern methods creating truly unique wines from grapes grown in a unique microclimate and soil not found anywhere else in Spain. They're passionate about the wine they produce, and this is a great example of their craft. With about 50 hectares of vineyards spread in different locations in the locality, they produce a variety of wines and styles.

The MERLOT and SYRAH grape variety were handpicked during the second week of October and were picked with 14� C.
The 2003 harvest ripened very well. The vintage took place without any problem, resulting in a harvest that was short in kilograms per hectare but of a great quality.
