| Cotes du Rhone wine Villages Rasteau Domaine du Trapadis Les Andres 2005 is a rich and delightful French red. It is produced with 50% Grenache noir, 30% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah Cotes du Rhone grown grapes from 60 years old gobelet pruned vines. Domaine du Trapadis's estate is composed of organic vineyards. The vineyard is cultivated without herbicides, chemical fertilizers or synthetic products. The soil is ploughed by horse three times a year to preserve the natural balance and to avoid erosion and compression of the soil. It is a pure Cotes du Rhone wine. No oak is used in the cellar and very little, or no filtration at all is done. This Cotes du Rhone wine has lots of color, finesse and develops with aging. The aromas of red fruit include truffles. It is a Rhone red wine with a powerful structure and character, rich with spicy, solidly rounded flavor, and balanced with beautiful flavors. Drink through 2015.
Domaine du Trapadis Les Andres is produced with grapes that are manually picked and carefully sorted, grape by grape. The harvest is destemmed, lightly crushed and put into cement vats. With only natural yeasts, the grapes are macerated for 20 days at a temperature of 25°C. Free run juice is pumped over the must every 4 days. The grapes are pressed just before the end of the alcoholic fermentation. The wine is matured in cement vats on fine lees for 20 months. Part of the wine (around 10%) is matured in French barrel to enhance aromatic complexity. The wine is finally bottled one at a time to keep the regularity and purity.
Domaine du Trapadis dates back four generations to 1850, with present vineyard owner Helen Durand’s two great-grandfathers owning a part of the land that together form today’s Domaine du Trapadis. Helen began to produce and bottle the wines of Trapadis since the young age of 16. He finished wine school in 1994, successfully earning his Brevet de Technicien Agricole en Viticulture Oenologie (professional certification in viticulture and oenology). To further enhance his knowledge, he completed an internship at Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Since 1996 Helen has complete charge of the domaine, incorporating his ideas and practices with respect for the vines and their surroundings.
