Barolo is the most noble wine from Italy. Cannubi Barolo 2001 by Gianni Gagliardo is considered one of the world's great Barolo wines. With 24 months of aging in French oak barrels, the taste and mouthfeel of this Barolo is like no other. The Cannubi zone of Barolo has always been hailed as the premier location to grow perfect Nebbiolo grapes. The Gagliardo Cannubi vineyard naturally gives very low yields. It is here where the family's passion and genius in vineyard management shines. An unforgettable super-star Barolo! Profoundly purple in the glass, deep and rich with ripe warm berries. Ubiquitous notes of tar, leather and roses that leads to a full black cherry explosion! This is a sensual combination of deep ripe fruit, black tea and lush, rich power. Perfumes of geranium and orange blend on the nose. The finish coats the mouth full of silky, rich tannins. A winning combination of extraordinary terroir and winemaking skill makes this Cannubi Barolo the king of Barolos.

This winemaking family goes back six generations in the area. The grapes grown on each single vineyard are all vinified separately, by hand and with small, high-quality yields. At Present the Gagliardo estate is composed of 30 hectares. This land is distributed in the zones of La Morra, Barolo, Serralunga and Monticello d' Alba.

RATINGS: Since so few bottles are produced and the demand is so high, this wine is not submitted for ratings. The reviews from the international pubications has been from Outstanding to Excellent. This is a true collectable wine that only gets better with age.
